So here we are with my first blog post, even though I've created blogs for education purposes involving college and university. This time I'll be using it for my own use such as writing and looking at life while making it through the world as a 20-something hence the title of the Blog.
Fast forward 2 years later after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Animation, I'm currently in the position where I'm experiencing what most graduates would fear: How now, brown cow? Looking at my current situation of being a graduate I've learnt some valuable life lessons. 1. Save Money - An obvious one for everybody but now being in a position where I no longer possess a maintenance grant to help with finances, I find the wages I make from my current job can be used to save for later on in life. However it doesn't steer me away from buying the odd video games and cheap McDonalds meal from time to time, it just means I have to be aware of how I'm spending money on a weekly basis. 2. Network - Talking to people who specialise in the career fields you want to pursue can be an added benefit, as your then learning from an individual who may of been in the same position as you and can then share advice, information an even form business relationships. Sites such as LinkedIn or Eventbrite are the best places to start, as you can then look for the nearest Networking events taking place to meet like minded individuals or start a conversation on social media. 3. Degree doesn't mean everything - Might of been a bit harsh on this one but for those including myself who went and our currently studying at university, the ending result won't necessarily mean your likely to secure a job in your chosen profession with your degree. While it could mean for some to pursue further education and for others to question their future, the answer lies within your passion and determination towards your ideal career and to see your degree as the foot in the door to pursuing it. While the stress of leaving university without a clue of what to do next can be daunting, it can also be the eye opening experience you need so ask yourself this question. "Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?" If it's being a top class Photographer or a Lawyer, then start planning out how you want to get there in small yet achievable goals. Finally I will end this topic by saying for those reading this post asking where to go next in life, remember that you are not alone as their are a wide range of people in the same position yet some do not seek to make a change and instead choose to live an unhappy lifestyle while others live a life of abundance doing the things they love. The question is: What are you gonna do about your Life?
